Therapist Search Report

A calm week in therapist search results. The one ongoing story is the big social platforms, Facebook and Instagram, both fading over the past month while the leaders hold steady. This edition of the report was published on March 30th, 2026

A Quiet Week for the Leaders

March 30th, 2026 Edition

A quiet week. LinkedIn and Psychology Today held their positions at the top, and most everything else moved only a little.

The one trend still worth noting is the social platforms. Facebook was flat this week, but it's now well below where it was a month ago -- the slow decline we've been tracking is no longer in doubt. And Instagram has been quietly heading the same way. So it's the two Meta-owned platforms in particular giving up ground in therapist search results, while the directories around them mostly hold.

Why? Hard to say from the data alone. Could be a shift in how Google weighs social profiles for these searches. We'll keep watching.

A timing note: this is a back-published edition, written during our catch-up after a pause this spring. The searches ran automatically the whole time, so no data was lost -- and AI is helping with the writing.

No real change up top: LinkedIn is the most visible site for therapists, and Psychology Today owns the top of the page when someone searches for one. The clearest movement underneath is Facebook and Instagram, both down notably over the month.

Nothing dramatic here this week -- the movers are small, and there's no new directory rising out of nowhere. The standouts are still Facebook and Instagram, but as part of a slow monthlong decline rather than any sudden drop.

Domain Presence in the Top 10

This is a breakdown of the most common domains found at each search result position. The first 10 positions are the most critical, as they appear on the first page, so this breaks it down for positions 1 through 10.

Psychology Today still holds close to half of the #1 spot for therapist searches. If your profile lives there, that result is almost certainly on page one when someone looks up your name.

That's it for this week -- fairly quiet, with the big social platforms slowly fading being the only real thread.

If you'd like to monitor what shows up when clients search your name, grab a free personalized search report. We'll flag anything that changes.

Thanks again for your understanding as we get caught up on the missed editions.

Note: These statistics are intended to highlight broad patterns we've observed when searching for therapists by name. While we use a consistent methodology and a reasonable sample size, the results are not exhaustive. They may not reflect every search variation, every geographic region, or every change in search engine algorithms. This information should be viewed as a general snapshot, not a definitive or complete record. (And if you have ideas on how we can make our analysis even better, we'd love to hear them!)

Quill Therapy Solutions

About Quill: Quill helps therapists write clear, accurate, and professional therapy progress notes in less time. You record (or write) a brief session summary, and Quill formats those important details into a well-written note -- so you can focus on your clients, not your paperwork. And importantly, Quill does not record therapy sessions, so you don't have to sacrifice your ethics or your clients' privacy.

Also, therapists can now create their own custom documentation templates -- so whether it's an intake assessment, custom progress note format, or literally any other type of documentation, Quill has you covered.
