Welcome back to our second edition! And if you're new, thanks for stopping by! We were overwhelmed by the wonderful response this past week, and we're so glad therapists are already finding this report (and our personal search report) so helpful!
And to that point, we're surprised (and maybe we shouldn't be!) that therapists have already helped highlight some curious findings after they ran their own personal reports. We'll be talking about that in this edition, which also features our first website-specific reports.

Not a lot of big movements with top domains, although ShareCare and NPIdb are worth keeping an eye on if their downward trends continue. LinkedIn and Psychology Today continue to reign supreme.

Here's where we get to the interesting part. A therapist brought PsychFAQ to our attention, after reviewing her personal search report. Specifically, she highlighted how 1) she didn't give it permission to post her profile, and worse, that the profile is written in the first-person. This is officially the first time through this reporting that we've gotten feedback from therapists about a site that smells a bit fishy. (And I know it won't be the last.)
This definitely requires some further investigation (and more therapists to speak up) -- so we'll be keeping an eye on PsychFAQ! If you click on PsychFAQ, you'll notice in our site-specific report how it... just magically appears last week! And in almost 5% of our searches, and in position #20, which is quite surprising! Remember, we've been tracking this data for about two months. We didn't see this website prior to two weeks ago.
And it's growing! In just the last 5 days, another 17,000 therapist profiles have been added to their directory! Yikes.

Nothing surprising here with which websites have the top positions in search results. But now that we're diving a bit deeper into specific websites, I took a closer look at Mind Diagnostics. It appears to have the permission of reposting therapist profiles from BetterHelp -- or it's at least an affiliate website for BetterHelp. It's surprising that it has a stronger presence than BetterHelp itself!
That's all I've got for this second edition! If there's one takeaway from this, it's this:
Please let us know (on LinkedIn, via email, wherever!) anytime you notice a search result for yourself that seems a bit... off. Sure, maybe that website is only listing an unauthorized profile of yourself. But there's also a chance that they're listing 100,000 other therapist profiles too! If we work together on this (and only you yourself know if you authorized a profile or not), we'll be able to better identify when websites are taking advantage of therapists for SEO gains -- and muddying the waters for those seeking your professional help.
